In this workshop, we will start the day with a presentation during which we will be discussing the different ways to approach urban photography. Ethics of this popular genre of photography, do's & don'ts and how to get over the fear of photographing strangers in the streets. Photo storytelling and Urban documentary will also be included. Immediately following the talk, we will go on a photo walk to practice newly learned techniques. Participants are encouraged to hang out after the photo walk on Saturday for a cup of coffee and a chat about the day.
The morning will start with a photo critique, bring your best 10 photos for a session of learning. Post processing tips will also be given. You will leave the workshop with a different vision on aesthetics, as well as great network opportunity.
When: Sunday Dec 18th, 2016: 9:30am to 5:00pm - Monday Dec 19th. 14, 2016: 9:00am to noon.
Where: In Manhattan, near Soho/Chinatown and/or Brooklyn Bridge and Dumbo. Exact location to be determined. Group size limited to 10 participants.
Note: Details will be sent out to participants a few weeks before the workshop. A closed Facebook group page will be set up for the participants of this workshop. Cost: The cost to attend the workshop is $100 (US dollars), payment can be made securely via Paypal. Meals, drinks and accommodations are not included in the cost. Gear: Any camera that you're comfortable using, could be digital or film. Bring, if possible, Laptop/Tablet for the critique session is also recommended, critique session will happen in a coffeeshop. Please note that this is not a software class, but a photography workshop on composition and aspects of Urban and Street photography in New York City.
